Sevai Upma

Upma is one of the most popular breakfast in India. It can be made of semolina, vermicelli, poha etc. Here I’m sharing vegetable sevai upma which is also called Semiya upma in southern India. It is prepared from vermicelli (sevai), mixed vegetables and other spices.

Here is the recipe:-

Ingredients:-

Sevai (vermicelli)- 1 cup moti wali (thick one)

Pyaz- 1 bareek cut kiya hua

Matar- 1/2 cup boil kiya hua

Gajar- 1 small (mota kisa hua ya bareek chop kiya hua (finely chopped))

Capsicum- 1 bareek cut kiya hua

Hari mirch- 2-3 bareek cut ki hui

Hara dhaniya- 1/4 cup bareek cut kiya hua

Nimboo ras- 1 1/2 tsp

Curry patta- 5-7

Masala:-

Namak

Haldi- 1/4 tsp

Lal mirch powder- 1/2 tsp

Rai (mustard seeds)- 1/4 tsp

Oil

Method:-

Sevai ko sabse pehle sukha hi kadai may sek le halka lal hone tak.

Ab usko thode tez garam pani may boil kar le kuch der may woh thoda soft ho jayega aur dabne lagega tab chaan kar ek plate may phaila le.

Ye same noodles boil karne jaisa hi hai.

Kadai may oil garam kare rai dale jab tadak jaye ismay hari mirch aur curry patta dale.

Ab onion, capsicum, carrot, peas sab dal kar adhkaccha (semi cooked) sek le.

Ab lal mirch aur haldi mila kar halka sa sek kar sevai mila de.

Acche se mix karke namak aur nimboo ras mila de.

Agar sevai jyada kadak lage toh halka pani ka cheeta de kar soft kar le.

Ab dhaniya patti milkar serve kare.
